What are the Differences?
When it comes to CBD, there are many terms that you will need to be familiar with, especially when purchasing CBD products. Two of those terms are full-spectrum and broad-spectrum. When speaking about these two terms, you often hear another one, which is CBD isolate. Let's take a look at what the differences between full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD, and CBD isolate.
Full-Spectrum
Full-spectrum CBD from hemp and the CBD products that contain it, contain all of the vital phytochemicals that are found naturally within the plant. This includes not only CBD but also other trace cannabinoids, essential oils, and terpenes from the plant. Full-spectrum CBD products that are extracted from hemp will contain minimal amounts of THC content below the legally allowed limit. The combination of these cannabinoids, along with other phytochemicals, terpenes, and essential oils within full-spectrum CBD products, work together to create what is known as the entourage effect. More on that below.
Broad-Spectrum
Broad-spectrum CBD is like a light version of the full spectrum, meaning it contains CBD as well as all of the other compounds found naturally within the plant mentioned above without any THC. Broad-spectrum CBD products should contain no THC as it should have been completely removed during the extraction process. While broad-spectrum CBD does not contain THC, it does still produce an entourage effect.
CBD Isolate
CBD isolate is considered to be the purest form of CBD you can obtain. CBD isolate contains nothing more than extracted CBD. Within 1 gram of CBD isolate, there should be approximately 990 mg of CBD, offering the highest concentration of CBD per serving. Since CBD isolate does not contain any other vital compounds from the cannabis plant, it does not produce the Entourage effect. CBD isolate, however, is priced much lower Dad full spectrum or broad-spectrum CBD products on average and still offers substantial benefits.
One of the most significant benefits to full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD products is what I previously mentioned above, known as the entourage effect. The entourage effect occurs when various components within cannabis work synergistically together to produce the most potential amount of benefits. It is believed that each compound could amplify the prospective therapeutic properties of each other while also helping to mitigate their possible side effects. One prime example of this is the synergistic ability of CBD and THC to work together not only to offer more significant benefits but also to offer more balanced effects.
The terpenes that are also still found within full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD products are another essential reason why these products offer substantial more benefits compared to CBD isolate. Terpenes that are found naturally within many different fruits, plants, vegetables, and spices around the globe are volatile molecules that offer many potential health benefits and have been used by aromatherapist for centuries.
The Benefits of Each
When it comes to choosing the right CBD product for you, there are many things that you need to take into consideration. While, everybody wants to get the most potential benefits out of their CBD products; if you are subject to random drug screening CBD isolate may be the best choice as there is absolutely no risk of you failing a drug test as no THC is present in the product at all. While broad-spectrum CBD and full-spectrum CBD only contain legal amounts of THC that are very minimal when utilized regularly in high concentrations, they have been known to cause individuals to fail a drug screening.
Full-spectrum CBD products are recommended for those that hope to benefit from the trace amounts of THC in their products. Individuals that have failed to be able to find relief utilizing CBD isolate and broad-spectrum products are encouraged to give full-spectrum products to try. Some products are best for individuals living in states with a legal cannabis market and are the least processed form of CBD.
Broad-spectrum CBD products are highly recommended for those with conditions that isolate alone has not provided relief from. For individuals that are sensitive to THC or living in places with harsh regulations surrounding the compound, broad-spectrum CBD may be the best choice. If you have never consumed cannabis in the past and are afraid of the potential psychoactive effects of THC, broad-spectrum will offer you the most benefits with minimal to no risk of psychoactive effects.
CBD isolate is recommended for individuals that have to take very high doses of CBD as it is the most concentrated form of the compound. CBD isolate is also highly versatile, odorless, flavorless, and does not come with the risk of failing a drug test. It, however, does not offer the benefits of the entourage effect or the additional potential benefits of things such as terpenoids, terpenes, flavonoids, Omegas, phytochemicals, phytonutrients and other aspects that are found within broad-spectrum and full-spectrum CBD products.
